LOVE LETTERS PROJECT LAUNCH
November 28, 2011 Leave a comment
THE LONDON AIDS MEMORIAL CAMPAIGN (LAMC) invites you to attend the launch of LOVE LETTERS, a multi media project to create a new century LONDON QUILT, based on the 1980’90′s AIDS Quilt concept that acted as a memorial to those who died of AIDS in the latter part of the 20th Century.
On Tuesday 29th November we will be hosting the first of many events to promote our Campaign. Come along and meet the LAMC team, ask questions, hear LOVE LETTERS read out, share your memories, listen to how we propose to create a permanent LONDON AIDS MEMORIAL and join our helpers list of skills.
Artist Mandy Webb, our Curator of Installations will explain her own LOVE LETTER in the form of a ribbon dress adorned with loving messages and Dickie Beau will perform his LOVE LETTER to those who passed before our eyes.
Utilising new technologies LOVE LETTERS expands the vision of one dimensional memories into a movable, ever changing installation, that represents the creative diversity at the heart of London.
Pop-up-performances will occur throughout Olympic year 2012, in bars, clubs, creative spaces, galleries and on Twitter, Facebook, You Tube and other networking avenues. Everyone, not just from London, has a chance to take part, reflect and offer something of their experiences with HIV/AIDS and collectively these experiences will be stored as a permanent display of remembrance.
