In the early years I used to write their names in the front of my family bible because I never wanted to think I would forget their names, their friendships, their humour, their talent and yes their love.
After one particular friends funeral I added his name and counted 50 funerals, and I knew I had to stop for my own sanity and find some peace with my other family in Wales, You can run but you cannot hide.
Even today I heard of three more names that did not make it – I have dear memory’s of my time with them.
I am saddened and know its but the tip of the iceberg.
I count myself so lucky to have been a young man through these years too. They were also the best of times.
We never turned our backs, we never judged or pointed fingers, we rose to the challenges and walked into the unknown.

We need a memorial – to those that have past – its long overdue.
